Allied Alarm Services, Inc. is seeking self-motivated individuals with strong technical aptitude and good communications skills for the position of Security & Fire Alarm System Technician. We are a locally owned and operated company serving Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania since 1984. Our Benefits
- Full time employees are eligible for health insurance benefits after their 60 day probationary period. These benefits also includes vision and dental coverage.
- Employees start earning paid time off 90 days after the start of employment. For the first 5 years, employees earn 10 days of PTO per year.
- A 401K plan is offered to eligible employees after 1 year of employment. This plan has a 50% match on the first 6% of employee contributions and also can be funded through profit sharing bonuses.
- Full time field technicians can be reimbursed annually for the purchase of safety boots up to $150.
- Technicians are provided with all necessary tools and equipment.
- Each employee is eligible for life insurance after 90 days. A life insurance policy in the amount of $50,000 is available after such time.
Technician
Security & Fire Alarm System Technicians report to the Service Manager & Scheduling Coordinator and are primarily responsible for performing service/installation of access control, intrusion alarm, closed circuit television systems, fire alarm and other various security related systems this will include pulling wire, installing conduit, hanging devices, programming panels, troubleshooting. This position is full-time and includes benefits such as paid time off, health insurance, and retirement plan. Hourly pay commensurate with skills & experience.
Technicians are responsible for:
- Evaluating, diagnosing, troubleshooting and performing repairs as necessary.
- Perform upgrades and additions to systems in order to increase functionality utilization.
- Preparing documentation in a variety of written and electronic formats (i.e. daily paperwork/log, time and materials, key inventory, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support in compliance with regulations and/or conveying information.
- Responsible for reading and understanding assigned project documentation and work orders including scope of work and determine if additional information is needed.
- Available for scheduled “on-call” to respond to emergency service calls (evenings and weekends).
- Planning wire runs to maximize time and material efficiency.
- Performing fire alarm inspections in accordance with NFPA 72 guidelines.
- Exhibit effective customer service skills by consistently communicating with office personnel, sales consultants and customers to ensure complete customer satisfaction experience.
- Attending training classes when offered.
- Following troubleshooting guidelines and referring to technical/parts manuals, change notices and bulletins, modification notices, etc. in order to diagnose & repair equipment or systems.
- Completing monthly vehicle reports in a timely manner.
- Maintaining accurate truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
- Partnering with sales to grow and protect the service segment of our business.
- Providing exceptional customer service.

Skills & Experience Required:
- NICET, NFBAA and/or ESA certification is preferred.
- Strong work ethic and integrity.
- Should be comfortable working independently and in a team environment.
- Detail oriented and strong problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
- Neat, professional appearance.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time on a ladder, lift over 70 lbs. at times, crawl into small spaces, and work in all climates.
- Working knowledge of low voltage systems (how to use a Multimeter, understand polarity, ohms law, wiring standards)
- Windows based computer experience a plus.
- A clean driver’s license is required.
- All employees are required to be finger printed and registered with New York State.
Apprentice
Security & Fire Alarm System Apprentices report to the Service Manager & Scheduling Coordinator and are primarily responsible for performing service/installation of access control, intrusion alarm, closed circuit television systems, fire alarm and other various security related systems this will include pulling wire, installing conduit, hanging devices, programming panels, troubleshooting. This position is part-time. Hourly pay commensurate with skills & experience.
Apprentices are responsible for:
- Providing Job support to field technicians
- Being flexible and able to change tasks quickly
- Keeping fleet vehicles clean and fueled
- Receiving shipments and stocking shelves
- Grounds keeping
